Kari and I took off on a weekend trip to Amelia Island. Here’s a quick look at our adventure!
First, we rented bikes to ride around the island. Here we are just before we started riding.
We rode along the beach until we came to this beautiful bed and breakfast. It was called the Elizabeth Point Lodge.
After that, we rode our bikes into Fort Clinch State Park. It was a gorgeous ride and we ended up at the pier. We walked to the end of the pier in the wind and rain, but it was so worth it!
After exploring the north end of the island, we rode to the south end. While riding, we came up to the Ritz-Carlton, the Fernandina Beach Golf Club, and some gorgeous homes.
After the 22 mile ride around the island, we checked into the hotel, cleaned up, and went out to dinner. Barbara Jean’s was so good! Then, we rode around and caught a few pictures of the sunset over the inter-coastal and the Amelia Island Plantation.
Finally, we visited the marina and saw some spectacular yachts! Here’s a picture of just one of the many that were docked there.
Saturday morning, we woke up to a beautiful sunrise and the beach! It was a wonderful weekend getaway and we can’t wait to do it again soon!
The Lord gave this to me tonight, so I thought I’d share. I’ve been pondering on my life lately and asking God to show me new things. As I read His word, my prayer is that new truths will become apparent to me and that I’ll have new revelations. Sometimes as I think and pray about these things, I just talk to God. Not audibly, but in my heart. Tonight, He gave me this statement and I had to repeat it couple of times to myself because I thought it was really powerful.
“Sometimes a life of significance is brought forth from a life of sacrifice.”
When this came to me, I had to think about my own journey and the events that have made me who I am today. Then, I thought about my future and what God may be asking me sacrifice in order to lead a significant life. I’m not satisfied just being another typical 24 year old. I’m not willing to sit back and watch my life pass me by without making an effort to impact those around me. I’ve realized that because of sacrifices I’ve made and those that I’m willing to make, I’m giving up my own will and turning my life over to Christ. You see, without a true sacrifice, our lives could never be significant. Living a life led by Christ will require sacrifices, but those sacrifices shape and mold our lives to become significant in Christ.
Christ so humbly sacrificed his own life so that we can have life. How much more can I sacrifice for him? God may be calling me to give up some vacation time to spend it sharing the gospel with people on the other side of the world who have never heard about Jesus Christ. God may be calling me to sacrifice my own comforts and securities to reach out and take hold of talents and abilities I never knew I had. I don’t know what the Lord’s ultimate purpose for me is. I’m on a journey to discover Him more and more each day. It’s a daily walk that requires me to sacrifice my own fleshly desires in order lead a significant, Christ-covered life. Above all, I know that I’m not the only person God has called into a life of significance. Therefore, it is my prayer to be an example to others, both believers and non-believers that regardless of how difficult the sacrifice may seem, it pales in comparison to the significance God blesses you with upon trusting completely in Him.
