Becoming “That Girl”- Lessons from Micah 6:8

ImageAny girl that has been single for some time probably wonders what the man of her dreams is looking for. Hopefully she’s looking for the right things, too! I’ve found that in our search we sometimes get so caught up looking for “the one” that we neglect doing what it takes to become “the one.” You know, they’ve always said there are two sides to every story. What if instead of working so hard to find the right guy we put a little more effort into becoming the right girl?

Micah 6:8 is a perfect example of what I’m talking about. While reading this verse a while back, a simple thought came to my mind. What would my life look like if I actually lived out the words of this verse? (Easy to say, hard to do sometimes, ladies!) Is says, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

I believe that if single women would embrace this, we’d have what was needed to be “that girl.” It isn’t about the shape of your body or the color of your eyes. It really has nothing to do with the brand of clothing you wear or how many friends you have. What matters the most are those things that matter to God- acting justly, loving kindness, walking humbly. I want to be the woman that does well in the eyes of the Lord. I want to be the woman that acts justly and supports Godly causes, who embraces people and loves with kindness, and who follows the direction of the Lord without question. If we just took the time to follow God’s instructions I believe that all of the other things will take care of themselves.

Lord, let my heart be broken for the things that break your heart. Let me love deeply and extend warm kindness to those I meet. Help me to be humble as I walk the path you’ve planned for me even though at times I don’t understand it. Help me to know you’re always beside me and that you have all things under control. Amen.
